“For after all, the best thing one can do when it is raining is let it rain”- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
When we’re dissatisfied or unhappy, our first impulse is to struggle. We believe fighting our circumstances will somehow make them better.
But struggle is the source of our greatest turmoil. The more we resist-instead of accept-what is, the more difficult our lives become. Peace continually eludes us until we believe contentment is something reserved for later.
We hunt down happiness but the pursuit actually makes us more miserable.
This isn’t to say we shouldn’t strive to make our lives better, just that real, profound transformation can only occur when we accept what is. We must begin where we are.
